Identify your transferable skills

What you indicate on you resume as tasks could be much more useful to you if they were positioned as skills.  Employers may not see as much value in learning about what you did in your last job, as they would in identifying skills that they can utilize.  Of course if you are applying for a job in the…     Read more

I read an interesting article in the "Staffing Industry News Bulleting" about the ongoing debate between online and print advertising, especially in the job-search realm. The results may or may not surprise you.

"Recruiters are spending more on online media, $5.9 billion, than they are on print, $5.4 billion, according to the “2007 Outlook: Online Recruitment Advertising” report by Borrell Associates Inc., a Portsmouth VA-based consulting firm that tracks local online advertising. Online recruitment now accounts for 25% of Internet advertising revenue, the report added. The firm said online job advertising is expected to grow 10.3% annually over the next five years and approach $10 billion by 2011."

So, what does that mean to the Job-Seeker? It means that if your job search campaign is not online (i.e. job boards {hint! hint!}) you could be missing out on the perfect opportunity for a great job. The article does a pretty good job of running down the facts:

  1. Online recruiting is getting more popular with employers
  2. Job-seekers need to be online to remain competitive.

So, where are you in your job hunt? Do you have all the necessary tools?

If you need help, please do not hesitate to ask!

Thanks and Happy Hunting!
